MQS Class Policies

We require full payment in advance to register for our classes.  The cost of registration does not include supplies, unless otherwise noted.  Supplies must be purchased in advance of the class.

It is your responsibility to decide if you have the prerequisites to take a class. A guideline is available in each course description, and you are always welcome to contact us if you have any concerns.  Course instructors will not teach techniques that are listed as requirements for the class.

Patterns or tools required to be purchased from Monkland Quilt Studio for classes must be paid in full before the beginning of the class.  We respect those who write patterns and develop tools & techniques, so there will be no exception to this requirement.  We do not allow sharing or photocopies of patterns where the original is not present.

Note that the retail store at MQS is not open for shopping during evening classes.  If you require supplies, please purchase during regular retail hours, or order online and leave a checkout note with your class name & time, and we will have it waiting for you.

Classes at Monkland Quilt Studio are subject to a minimum number of participants. If this number is not met by 14 days prior to the class, the class will be cancelled, and a full refund (in the original method of payment) will be issued to all who registered.

If we need to cancel a class, we will either reschedule, or issue a refund to a gift card.  In the event that a class is rescheduled, you will be notified and have 72 hours to decline your spot; after this time, you will be added to the participants list and refunds will not be given.

Should you need to cancel, you may do so at least 15 days in advance of a class to recieve a store credit in the amount of your class.  Please contact us by email to arrange this.  After 15 days , no refunds will be issued.

You need to be at least 18 years old to attend classes at Monkland Quilt Studio, unless otherwise noted in the course description.

All classes & workshops start on time!  Doors will open 15 mins before the start time to get set up.  Late arrivals will have to join the class at the point of instruction.

Your sewing machine and tools need to be in good working order, and we strongly advise you to bring the manual for your machine.  Unfortunately, due to the volume of learning content, we do not have the means to help you with troubleshooting or repairs.

We believe in sharing our knowledge and creativity, not viruses :) Please do not come to a class or workshop if you are sick! We reserve the right to ask you to go home if you're visibly unwell.

We also believe in fostering an encouraging, safe environment for everyone. Verbal or physical abuse of instructors or other participants will not be tolerated, and may result in immediate removal from a class, workshop, or event without a refund.

Lastly, please don't be the Quilt Police.  Nobody likes the Quilt Police.
